I think this is important enough to have it's own dedicated thread.
While we don't know the full details it does appear there is a concerted campaign to stop the Steeldogs from playing, now whether this is just as a result of the planned takeover by Tony Smith or there are other factors involved isn't clear yet.
What I do absolutely support is allowing the Steeldogs to decide for themselves how they wish to go forward, if that is with the Steelers then fine, if they don't want that then that is also fine. Right now they need our support so if you can attend any events they have planned or can get active on social media to put pressure on those making the decisions that would be appreciated I'm sure.
They have a long and distinguished history and have helped bring through many good players either at their own level or in helping develop players through to the Elite level. They are an important part of Sheffield sporting culture and should be cherished as such.
If you can help in any way then please consider doing so. At this time Planet Ice are even blocking people on Twiiter for using the Steeldogs hashtag, that is how bad it has got.
Let the Dogs Play - VICTORY !!!

From Steelers Media

A Call to arms Sheffield
Tomorrow, Tuesday at ICE Sheffield the Steeldogs have their first training session of the year from 7.50pm - 8.50pm
Please turn out & show your support for the Dogs - the Bar will be open
"The fan support for the Steelers / Dogs collaboration has been outstanding" said Tony Smith "It would be great if fans could show up on Tuesday to cheer Hewey and the Dogs onto the ice for their first session of the year"

I keep seeing the bring (why can't Tony) bring the Steeldogs into the EIHL side of the argument.. There is only one city big enough to have 2 EIHL clubs and the don't have one, until London have a team and the money guys like sky start promoting it, ice hockey will only ever have a niche following, look at darts, a sport by the way you can basically play with a pint in your hand.. Matchtoom and Hearn and eventually Skysports got involved and look at it now.. Ice hockey needs someone like that to come in and see the mega potential of the UK's biggest indoor sport..
