Great effort despite intimidation of officials by Keefe and an oscar winning dive by Mcauley. He drew the ,”penalty”, and skated back to the bench just below me where he gave a huge grin and a wink to his team mates.
Belfast are very quick and well organised in defence and maybe a little shortage of numbers cost them in the third as they tired, but we never let up and forced that upon them . Greenfield again kept us in the game. Big thumbs up to the Noisy Belfast support, you really supported your team well. Not sure how you are as far down the table as you are . Belfast are not a 5th place team.
Well done every Steelers player and coaches tonight . Proud of you.

Win their games in hand and they'll be right up there again.

They've 2 games in hand over Cardiff & 3 games in hand over Coventry with 1 game in hand over Steelers but that win last night has put us 5 points clear of Belfast.

Long long way to go yet, plenty of twists and turns to come.

Scott Allen out for tomorrow’s game. Conn’s could be a great nuisance :D
Oh No  Conns can also be a liability, especially give some of the bizarre calls/no calls last night. His reputation unfortunately goes before him :peek:

Really tight game, and really enjoyable. Belfast easily the best team we've played this year, and I think we are probably the best team they've played.

Nevalainen was absolutely superb, as was Greenfield. Also impressed with Mitchell - really like his game, finishes hits, stepped in to help Raska, and pretty good defensively.

As for Belfast, I'd take Gabe Bast in a heartbeat - absolute stud of a D man. I do think even though they were missing a couple, I think they are heavily reliant on their top 5 forwards, especially the top line (with Lake and Owre being the 4 and 5). Shutdown that top line and they can be vulnerable.

Roll on this afternoon!

Honestly if you dont like that hockey or consider that we didn't put effort in or indeed played well, your not on the same page as me..

From the first shift you could see that Belfast were a good bit better than any team we have seen at the arena this season and by a decent margin to...
Their forecheck is exactly how I wish we could play every game their backcheck is not far behind, they did not let anything just roll or come to them they worked their backside off every single man every single shift... and went into every 50/50 on the boards in both zones.

and we matched them stride for stride and if it hadn't been for a stella defence form the giants and one or two baffling calls from the on ice officials then we could probably have cleared them by 2 goals... more of the same tomorrow please, including the guys not taking any nonsense from the giants players.. they will come even harder tomorrow if thats even possible!

@Doom is spot on for me, finish above Belfast and you're going to win silverware this season... :wonder:
Easily the best game of the season and I was chuffed to bits that I was there to see it live. Thought the 1st period was a little of bit of the two teams feeling each other out a little bit, but the 2nd and especially the 3rd were a fantastic advert for hockey.

But these types of games are rare occurrences now in the EIHL. You can usually count them on one hand during the season.

Why can’t we have that type of intensity 90%, I’d even take 80% of the time? I don’t watch half the games against half of the league as the games I don’t find are value for money and IMO and are pretty drab games with very little intensity. Panthers games are just that over the last few years. I’d rather be playing Belfast on Boxing Day than Panthers.

If we can take that same intensity into today’s game I would expect another barnstormer. If we take the same intensity to ALL league games we will win the league at a canter.

Well sold by Petgrave, there was certainly no high stick. Neither was it a roughing penalty on Jono.

Well battled from both teams, by far best support at the house of steel I've seen that from there fans fair play. starting 6 from them yesterday had me worried but the lads stood to the challenge well 💪more of same today please🙌 oh an on the play acting both teams was just as bad as each other if the officiating wasn't so bad maybe we'd see less of it but both teams just as guilty as each other.Big shout out to Mason Mitchell as well standing up for his team mates growing on me the lad

Yeah I reckon that's 1-1 so neither fanbase has the right to moan, however that icing call when the Steelers are on a penalty kill, now that's a very basic error two weeks in a row.

Another 2 players missing for Belfast. Butcher and Ruiop

No excuses they’re even shorter on the bench.
