If the knee seems to be ok and the wages reflect the risk then I am ok with this aslong as also improving the 2nd/3rd line and isn’t seen as a top liner anymore. However sadly I suspect we will be signing a replacement for him before the season is out, a wait and see signing with lots of potential positives

As long as he’s on the third line I don’t really have an issue with it. If he’s on the first two lines then I think we’ve got problems for the season ahead.

Looks like we had to announce the re-signing as Connolly was listed on the sponsorship page the other day when it was released.

I've a lot of respect for Connolly because he plays with his heart on his sleeve, but at 37 after a major injury which he's still not fully recovered from this is too much of a risk for my liking.

I thought he looked like he was starting to dip in form during the Elite Series Challenge and the start of the regular season, so to factor in a serious injury and another year older I really can't get enthused by this news.

There must be younger players who bring the same attributes to the game as Connolly, although I suspect most are in the North American leagues and Fox just doesn't seem to have the contacts over there.

Hopefully Connolly will prove me wrong, but whilst I suspect the mind will be willing, I'm not convinced the body will be.

Difficult to judge, but I think I'd have him down for 15 goals.

Regards

37 years old, season ending injury, declining form and numbers in recent times, it’s a Very big risk from me but maybe as other posters have said we don’t have the contacts or resources for anyone else. I like Cons but not enough to warrant another years contract based on the risk, we must really be struggling and restricted to take this gamble when other options in this situation would be more prudent imo.

Agree completely. A very risky signing.

I'll certainly welcome Conns back, he is a superb player who can get you those PP with his style of playing but I'll also 100% agree with Doom, I worry for his knee, has he fully recovered, can he bring back the style of play we're used to seeing.

As I look at the roster so far, I worry.

A risky move and if it pays off maybe a brilliant move, I am willing to give BC all my support ,as to me he was one of our best players along with Valley. but the risk as to be worth it and only Brendan, Aaron and Mike Mawer will know the risk v reward on this one..

Obviously carries a bit of risk, but he’s bounced back from a serious knee injury before, then he hit 28 goals in 19/20 for us.

Brings veteran experience and know-how, along with a proven offensive ability in this league which as we all know is unique.

Will be an asset to us, especially if him & Raška are seen as the 2nd & 3rd line centres.

The man’s attitude and passion are a definite plus. From that point of view even if the numbers don’t match his previous he’ll still be an asset.

As everyone else says it’s his ability to come back from a long injury lay-off that is worrying for us. He says he wants to retire on his own terms and not be forced to by injury so who would deny him that? I hope it works out for him and us.

He’ll certainly be welcomed back on the ice in Aug and Sept. Let’s hope we’ll all be celebrating at the end of the season.
