Re: GAME THREAD: Panthers V Steelers: Sunday 22nd March

Although it doesn't mean much to us in terms of the league, it is a good confidence boost and puts the final nail in the Panthers title challenge.

We may also come up against them again at the playoff weekend, so good to get one over on them.

Re: Watling Injury

It sounds very nasty and just as he was finding his feet.

Hopefully he can make a full recovery, but sadly I think it's the last we'll see of him in orange.

Re: It's time

It's worth remembering the two seasons prior to the Grandslam season we stuttered badly in the 2nd half of the season after a strong start. The Grandslam was the exception rather than the rule. There is certainly some truth in the team pulling together after the Johnson tragedy, but we had already m...

Re: GAME THREAD: Steelers v Panthers: Saturday 21st March

The 1st probably highlighted the flaws in this team more than the 2nd or 3rd. Top teams would have come out of that period with a 3 or 4 goal lead, but we couldn't hit a donkeys ass with a banjo. 2nd and 3rd Panthers sobered up and did.what well coached teams do. I hate to say this, but I am swingin...

Re: GAME THREAD: Steelers v Panthers: Saturday 21st March

This is ridiculous. The Belfast game faced off at the same time and is 17 minutes into the 3rd. We've not started the 3rd. We need to go for a tram at 9:30, so at best we'll get 10 minutes of the 3rd. I wouldn't mind so much if the team were inspiring me, but it's just not happening. We absolutely d...

Re: GAME THREAD: Steelers v Panthers: Saturday 21st March

I've just told my Dad Nottingham won the Challenge Cup and he seemed rather pleased. He was stationed down in Nottingham at the end of the war and was friends with the first ever Nottingham netminder (Dick Halverson). At least one member of our family is happy with their success.....I've told him he...

Re: GAME THREAD: Steelers v Panthers: Saturday 21st March

No doubt we'll have to sit through the Panthers fans rubbing our noses in it after their CC win and I don't blame them. It will be the second week running our supporters will have to endure the opposition fans celebrating, whilst we have very little to get excited about ourselves. Even if there isn'...

Re: GAME THREAD: Steelers v Giants: Sunday

1 goal in 6 periods of hockey doesn't look good at all. Keefe really does have Fox's number. He knows exactly how we set up and how to nullify our style of play. Unless Fox changes how we play, it will be more of the same if we play them at the playoffs. I don't think our constant chopping and chang...

Re: GAME THREAD: Steelers v Giants: Sat

I thought it was a fairly even game overall, but Belfast took advantage of the moments when they had the chances. The problem for me is that these situations keep happening, so it comes down to more than just bad luck, it's about coaching. Keefe clearly has Fox number, so unless we can win the playo...

Steeldogs

Congratulations to the Steeldogs winning their first trophy in orange. They didn't half make it tense though, conceding two whilst Leeds had their netminder pulled. The 2nd of those with about 3 seconds to go. Fortunately they won it right at the end of ot. I can't say I was overly impressed with th...
