Re: GAME THREAD: Steelers v Panthers. Sat 17th Feb

Cracking game, full credit to a sparse Panthers team. They deserve to be mid-table and Michaud is a fantastic disruptor. Hopefully we don't flag going into probably the most challenging run-in I've ever seen. Our sharpshooters are needed in top form and ideally they'll let some shots go on the rush ...

Re: GAME THREAD: Sheffield Steelers v Nottingham Panthers Saturday, 18th March 7:00pm

Brutally uninspiring stuff from two sides surely bound for another trophyless season each. I’m aware the rivalry is long dead but between the atmosphere, intensity and gameplay it is now just flatly tortuous to watch. Looks fairly clear the side has given up on the title, but the lack of offensive i...

Re: GAME THREAD: Sheffield Steelers v Nottingham Panthers, Saturday 29th October 7:00pm

Honestly, I’m numb to the cynical, cash grabbing scheduling at this point. Killed the rivalry almost 8 years ago with this approach, and it’s somehow softened further ever since. It’ll be November before we gave them in meaningful action having played them, how many times? For me, the worst part is ...

Re: GAME THREAD: Cardiff Devils v Sheffield Steelers Saturday, 15th October 7:00pm

I thought that was a masterfully coached game, and Petgrave was an absolutely priceless presence. His spatial awareness and positioning on the backcheck is really going to be worth a lot. That said, I still can’t get much of a read on the team. They have less immediate identity than the 2020 attacki...

Reflecting before the run-in

I saw a tweet earlier that gave me pause, and made me think that now, as storm clouds gather for a potentially classic title scrap, is the perfect time to take stock of how far we’ve come. I don’t really buy into any rhetoric about “rebuilding“ or “transition years” as an excuse for an underwhelming...

Re: GAME THREAD: Panthers v. Steelers. Sat, 22nd Feb.

I feel like I’m the only person that isn’t that nervous about this. All the evidence points to a loss. I think we’ve mentally checked out after realising the streak didn’t win any silverware, the officials weren’t going to get better and we will always have to outscore our basic defensive inability....

Re: GAME THREAD: Flyers v. Steelers. Sun, 16th February.

They checked out during the fortnight off. Had a 0 point weekend and must’ve thought the work that still lay ahead wasn’t worth it after all they’d put into the hot streak. Spoilt team with a farcical defence in front of a tired ageing rebound-heavy goalie. If we aren’t scoring a lot, we aren’t winn...

Re: GAME THREAD: Steelers v. Stars.. Sat, 15th February.

You mean to say we can’t sustainably outscore our youth-level defensive flaws for a full season and now it’s too behaviourally embedded to change anything?

Re: FlyDSA to get new eco-friendly ice plant

The new chiller will operate using a very low cost... I was just wondering if any of that cost saving is likely to be reflected in the rent or other cost savings to the Steelers club? The anticipated life expectancy of the new equipment is estimated to be circa 20 years.. Didnt they say that 29 yea...
